Just Do It
Romans 12:1-2 (MSG)
Place Your Life Before God
12 1-2 So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.
Romans 12:1 (NKJV)
Living Sacrifices to God
12 I beseech[a] you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your [b]reasonable service.
Obedience is better than sacrifices. Obedience is about trust that extends beyond your understanding and your way. A sacrifice is what you control.
Obedience is listening to God’s direction and responding to His guidance. Obedience is letting God be the author and designer of your life.
Obedience is giving up control by letting go of what you had and mind, being honest to yourself and no longer withholding your life from God. Going through this process of becoming can be painful but it builds you to who you are originally meant to be which pleases God most.
CHALLENGE, PRAYER OR FAST | Go out and do something new. Go to dinner at a new place, go to the moves by yourself, be nice when you would normally let someone have it… do something new is symbolic of breaking the typical response that sacrifice often leads us in.
